14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft announced Windows 10 cumulative update KB4016250 earlier this week, but for some reason, the company needed more time to actually publish this patch for users, and it now looks like download links are live.
Cumulative update KB4016250 is only aimed at Fast and Slow ring insiders, and it’s specifically released for systems running Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703). This is, in fact, the very first cumulative update released for the Creators Update, and it brings the OS version to build number 15063.11.
The update doesn’t bring too many changes, but only a couple of fixes, and what’s more important is that there’s a good chance a new cumulative update will ship to retail users as well when the Creators Update goes live next week via Windows Update Assistant.
Microsoft most likely tries to determine whether there are any issues with this cumulative update or not before releasing it to users, as these patches often caused problems, such as installation errors or post-deployment bugs impacting OS performance.
New cumulative update landing for all users on April 11
The release of the Creators Update via Windows Update is projected to begin on April 11, the same day when Microsoft releases this month’s Patch Tuesday fixes, so a cumulative update is expected on that day as well, this time for retail users. Of course, other cumulative updates for the previous Windows versions are also expected with security improvements and other fixes.
At this point, KB4016250 appears to install just fine, but this is no surprise given that it’s only the first cumulative update released for Creators Update, so it remains to be seen if the same smooth performance is experienced when retail users get it too.
