“Give us better control of the live tiles,” they say

One of the biggest changes that Microsoft made in Windows 10 is the introduction of the Start menu, a legendary feature that was introduced with Windows 95 and that was first removed from the operating system in 2012, when the company rolled out Windows 8.

Due to the unexpected amount of criticism, Microsoft reintroduced the Start menu in Windows 10 but decided to keep the live tiles it used in Windows 8 for the Start screen.

And while the Start screen wasn't exactly the most loved feature in Windows 8, users actually liked an option or two and now want to see them in Windows 10 too.

Better control of the live tiles

Posts in the Windows 10 Feedback app reveal that users expect Microsoft to give them better control over live tiles, letting them move, unpin, resize, edit, and remove multiple tiles at the same time.

At this point, such requests have thousands of votes in the Feedback app and everyone's reminding of Windows 8.1, which is living proof that, despite the criticism, this operating system also had some pretty good features that actually impressed many users out there.

Microsoft hasn't yet commented on this request, but given the fact that it's no big deal to create such features, expect them to be added soon, also thanks to the fact that so many insiders voted for them.

The next big Windows 10 update is set to arrive in October, so if everything goes right, expect this update to include some changes to the Start menu too, plus options that could give you more control of the live tiles.

In the meantime, if you don't like the new Start menu, there are plenty of alternatives out there, including Windows 7-like Start menus that make your desktop look and feel a lot more familiar.
