Use the Windows 10 hero wallpaper as a boot screen, they say

Microsoft recently presented the new Windows 10 hero image, which is actually the official desktop background of the new operating system, but the video that the company rolled out to introduce this new feature has made many people imagine other features that could arrive before RTM.

For instance, the Windows UserVoice feedback channel has a new suggestion where users are requesting Microsoft to actually use the Windows 10 hero desktop wallpaper as a boot animation, just like in the video demonstration that the company released a couple of weeks ago.

And honestly, this does make sense, especially because the new wallpaper is supposed to become an iconic picture for Windows 10, mostly if the operating system succeeds.

“Using this as a boot animation, if it can be achieved with decent quality, would establish a unification of the OS with its default background (which is to be iconic for the years to come, looking at older but still-popular Windows versions like XP, Vista, and 7) as well as giving the magical and premium feel a still image produced specifically for the desktop wallpaper cannot achieve on its own,” the poster explains.

Default wallpaper in preview builds

Right now, the new Windows 10 hero image is the default wallpaper in Windows 10 Insider preview builds, and the final version of the operating system coming out on July 29 will use the same background on the desktop.

For the moment, the company hasn't said anything about a new boot screen, but using the hero wallpaper could indeed create a more cohesive operating system from start to shutdown.

Recent Windows 10 builds also come with other wallpapers, so Microsoft might be planning to offer users more options in this regard and let them choose from a bigger collection of backgrounds for their desktops.
