Retail stores start selling the new USB sticks

In addition to the traditional DVD, Windows 10 is also very likely to sell on USB flash drives that would allow easier and faster install, while also making it possible for devices without an optical drive to deploy the new operating system.

Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed this information, but a listing on retailer CompSource seems to confirm that this is indeed the plan and users can place an order for the Home version of Windows 10 on USB flash drives.

There are several things to keep in mind, however. First of all, notice that the Windows 10 Flash drive is listed as “not in stock,” so it’s very likely to become available after the operating system makes its official debut on July 29. At that time, both the DVD and the USB stick versions of Windows 10 should become available, so you will be able to purchase any of them.

Priced at $124

Secondly, the item is called “Windows Home 10 32-bit/64-bit English 1 license USB Flash drive,” which seems to confirm previous reports that USB drives will be delivered with both Windows 10 versions and allow users to choose which one to install when launching the setup.

The price of the product also provides an indication on the version of Windows 10 that’s being offered because CompSource sells it for $124 (100 Euro), which means that it’s most likely the Home version. Microsoft sells the Windows 10 Home edition for $119.99, while the Pro SKU costs $199.99, so it’s very unlikely that the latter would be included on an USB drive sold at this price.

On the other hand, if it’s just the Home version, it contradicts previous reports that Microsoft could be charging an additional of $25 for the USB drive because this product adds only $4 over the price of the traditional DVD.

Of course, it’s too early to discuss Windows 10 USB Flash drive pricing since no official details are available, so just don’t take anything for granted right now. We’ve also tried to contact CompSource officials to see if this listen is indeed real or not and will update the article should be get an answer.
