It appears that the second Windows 10 cumulative update is again causing issues on a number of computers

Today Microsoft has rolled out the second cumulative update for Windows 10, introducing a bunch of improvements and security fixes supposed to make the latest operating system a bit more secure and stable.

But as was the case with the first cumulative update released one week ago, this new one seems to be impacted by some installation issues that prevent a number of Windows 10 users from deploying it on their PCs, and for the moment, there doesn't seem to a way to fix it.

Various reports posted online, either on the Microsoft Community forums or on third-party forums, reveal that KB3081436 doesn't install correctly and gets stuck at a certain percentage before rebooting the computer and undoing changes.

For the moment, there doesn't seem to be a pattern there, so it's hard to say whether this is a widespread issue or not, but it might not be good news for some users who were also experiencing problems with the first cumulative update for Windows 10.

Also including previous updates

Probably the worst thing about not being able to install this update is the fact that it includes all the previously released fixes, so in case you were indeed having trouble with the first cumulative update and you can't install this one either, you're out of luck.

There are some ways to fix the installation issues with the first update and it's not yet clear if the same steps can help in this case too, but they're worth a try if you have no other option.

Today's update includes several fixes and security patches, among which a cumulative update for Microsoft Edge that addresses vulnerabilities found in the browser, so it's pretty clear that Redmond must find a way to resolve the problems that these users are experiencing in order to keep their PCs protected.
