Microsoft has just announced that Windows 10 is running on 300 million devices around the world, claiming that it has the highest customer satisfaction of any version of Windows.

Redmond has also reminded that, on July 29, the free upgrade promo comes to an end, so consumers running Windows 7 or 8.1 on their PCs have approximately two more months to benefit from the offer.

The company has said that Microsoft Edge browser is successful as well, with users having spent no less than 63 billion minutes with the app in March alone. Cortana also has answered 6 billion questions in Windows 10 since the launch, and the operating system has recorded a total of 9 billion hours of gameplay since July 2015.

The Windows Store is growing at a fast pace too, Microsoft adds, and the number of apps that have been released lately is living proof. No figures have been provided this time, though.

You’ll have to pay for Windows 10 after July 29

Microsoft has also revealed what happens after July 29, when the free upgrade window comes to an end, explaining that, beyond this date, everyone would have to pay for the operating system or get it when purchasing a new device that comes with it pre-installed. Windows 10 Home costs $119 (€110), just like Windows 8.1.

Previously, it was believed that Microsoft could extend the free upgrade offer, but it turns out that the company does not intend to do this, although there’s still time for a change of mind at the very last minute.

“Today, we want to remind you that if you haven’t taken advantage of the free upgrade offer, now is the time. The free upgrade offer to Windows 10 was a first for Microsoft, helping people upgrade faster than ever before. And time is running out. The free upgrade offer will end on July 29 and we want to make sure you don’t miss out,” Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Windows and Devices Group, said in a statement.

Microsoft has a goal of bringing Windows 10 on 1 billion devices by 2017, so it remains to be seen if the company can still get 700 million more installs in the remaining time or not.
