Evidence of the feature discovered in latest build

Cloud Clipboard is a feature that was originally expected to launch in Redstone 4, but eventually held back for Redstone 5, and now it turns out that Microsoft is finally ready to allow insiders to try it out.

Cloud Clipboard is basically an upgraded version of the traditional clipboard that uses cloud power to copy and paste content not locally, but from one device to another. This means you can technically copy text or files on a PC and then paste them on another device like a laptop or even a phone, as long as the same Microsoft account is being used.

The most recent Windows 10 Redstone 5 build for the Skip Ahead ring comes with evidence that Cloud Clipboard is advancing, with a new section in the Settings page providing an early look at the future.

Only available for Skip Ahead

As AL writes, the Clipboard section is available under Settings > System, and it comes with two options that define how the new feature works. You can have it automatically kick in whenever you copy items to the clipboard, and have it shared to other devices, or manually share content from the clipboard history by pressing the Windows logo key + V to choose what to send to other devices.

Redstone 5 is currently available for the Skip Ahead exclusively, as all the other Windows Insider rings are still running Windows 10 Redstone 4 builds. Shortly after the release of Redstone 4 next month, however, insiders in these rings should be upgraded to Redstone 5 as well, with Microsoft to then bring everyone in sync.

The upcoming Redstone 5 is projected to launch in the fall with many other features, and Cloud Clipboard will definitely evolve beyond this early implementation. Redstone 5 is projected to be finalized in September and released in October.
