Microsoft has shipped a new build for Skip Ahead, and since users enrolled in this ring are already one step ahead, it previews the Redstone 5 update that’s due in the fall.

Windows 10 build 17618 brings back Sets, a feature that enables tabs across the operating system, and as compared to the previous version that was released as part of a Redstone 4 experiment, this new update also supports Win32 software.

Other than that, Windows 10 Redstone 5 build 17618 brings other general changes, improvements, and fixes for the PC, most of them based on reports received from insiders. You can check out the full changelog in the box after the jump.

Known issues in this build

There are also three known issues, also detailed below, but the most important concern the Microsoft Store and the Settings app.

Specifically, the Microsoft Store might fail to launch or disappear from the taskbar or the Start menu, and this is a bug that was first introduced in earlier releases. Microsoft has already fixed it in the most recent Redstone 4 updates, and it shouldn’t take too long before it does the same thing in Redstone 5 too.

Additionally, the company explains that if you open the Settings app and click on links to the Microsoft Store or tips, the app crashes. “This includes the links to get themes and fonts from the Microsoft Store,” the firm adds.

Windows 10 Redstone 5 is only available in preview for users in the Skip Ahead ring, but Microsoft will start shipping builds to the Fast ring shortly after launching the Redstone 4 update next month. At that point, all rings will be brought back in sync for the development of Windows 10 Redstone 5, which according to Microsoft’s release schedule, should be ready for insiders in September and released to everyone else in October.
