14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft is working hard to finalize the Windows 10 Creators Update, also referred to as Redstone 2, and the company is already planning in advance, with first builds of the next OS update to be shipped to insiders in late April.
We’ve known for a while that the next Windows 10 update is codenamed Redstone 3 and is supposed to land in the fall, and now new information provided by Windows leaker WZor provides us with a closer look at Microsoft’s roadmap for the post-Creators Update releases.
It appears that Microsoft’s target for Windows 10 Redstone 3 is November 2017, with the first builds to be released for insiders in late April, while the last ones would land in October. If this information is correct, Windows 10 Redstone 3 should be finalized between October and October 25.
Windows 10 Redstone 3 could see daylight as version 1711, which once again aligns with Microsoft’s naming strategy that represents the release date for each update, in this case the first two digits representing the year - 2017, and the other two standing for the month - November.
Two years after version 1511
While this information is still unverified at the moment, it makes sense for Microsoft to ship Windows 10 Redstone 3 in October, as the release would land two years after the introduction of the Windows 10 November Update (version 1511), which was the first important update for the operating system.
Furthermore, it also aligns with rumors that Redstone 3 could see daylight in the fall, and its debut could be synced with the introduction of other important Microsoft products, such as the eagerly-anticipated Surface Phone (although its existence is still in doubt at the moment). Late October or early November events have become a common thing for Microsoft, with the firm announcing new hardware and product updates during large events.
Even if this information is not accurate, Redstone 3 should still land in the fall and October or November is very likely to be the target month for signing off the update. But as usual, keep in mind that anything can change overnight, and depending on how work on Redstone 3 advances, Microsoft could change the target date without anyone knowing about it.
