The day has finally come for Windows fans to celebrate the launch of the new Windows 10 operating system. Microsoft's latest platform has been officially released and a select number of users have already received Windows 10 as a free upgrade.

Windows 10 will be available across 190 countries in the next couple of months, either as a free upgrade or with new PCs and tablets.

Those who reserved their Windows 10 copies digitally will be receiving the upgrade automatically in the next couple of weeks since Microsoft is delivering the upgrade in phases to help manage the demand.

Also, for business customers, Windows 10 is available to start deploying within work environments and starting August 1, organizations who have volume licensing can upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education.

Last but not least, Microsoft confirmed that Windows Insiders running build 10240 already have the Windows 10 version made available today.

Windows Insiders should already have Windows 10

The only thing required for Windows Insiders to be sure they are running the latest version of Windows 10 is to check Windows Update and make sure they have all the final updates.

And let's not forget that if you plan on buying a new Lenovo, HP, Dell or Acer PC/laptop/tablet, make sure you get one with Windows 10 pre-loaded since they are already available for purchase from today via retailers across the globe.

“We are excited to bring Windows 10 and its many innovations to the world. Windows 10 is the best Windows ever and was built to empower people to do great things. It has new innovations like Cortana, Microsoft Edge and the Xbox app.

“It’s fast, more secure and compatible. It’s familiar and easy to use. It’s automatically up to date. And you can upgrade for free beginning on July 29,” Windows and Devices Group Corporate Vice President Yusuf Mehdi said in a blog post.
