Lumia 535 devices in the Middle East getting the upgrade

Everyone is waiting for Microsoft to give the go-ahead to the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade version for Windows Phone devices, but while the company remains tight-lipped on when this is expected to happen, it appears that some handsets are already seeing the upgrade.

A report from WMPU claims that Lumia 535 devices in the Middle East are getting the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile as we speak, although it’s not yet clear what version they’re receiving and whether some other Lumia models are included in this early rollout or not. For what it’s worth, these devices might be actually running preview builds and only getting the update to build 10586.107 as part of the slow ring, so don’t take anything for granted for the time being.

For the moment, it’s hard to tell for sure if the Windows 10 Mobile rollout has started or it’s just a false alarm, but in the last few days, Microsoft has indeed been dropping hints that the release of the new smartphone operating system is just around the corner.

“Windows 10 is here!”

As our reader ‏@vickymhatre6 has noticed, Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.107 comes with an improved upgrade experience for slow ring users, including a message that seems to suggest that this version might be the one to be pushed to Windows Phone devices too.

“Windows 10 is here! Get hundreds of improved features, new Office apps that work seamlessly across your Windows 10 devices, and more. For details about how the update will impact your experience, please read windows.com/mobilespecs. Significant download required,” this message reads.

Without an official announcement from Microsoft, we’re going to leave this report in the rumor category, but all signs seem to be pointing to an imminent release of Windows 10 Mobile.

These are exciting moments for the Windows Phone community, and it becomes more than obvious that Microsoft’s smartphone operating system is not dead. We’ve reached out to Microsoft to see if there’s anything new to share on Windows 10 Mobile's availability and will update the article should such information be provided.
