A new build now available for mobile insiders too

Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 Redstone build 14295 for PCs, and because the company is working to keep devices in sync, the very same version is available for download on smartphones too.

Just like the PC sibling, Windows 10 Mobile Redstone build 14925 doesn’t bring significant changes, but only improvements and bug fixes, with Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, explaining that it includes “a good set of fixes that insiders will enjoy.”

Coming only a few days after build 14290, it’s very clear that this new version couldn’t bring any major changes, but it’s very important to note that more users can download it from the very beginning.

Previous Redstone builds on mobile were only available for devices that launched with Windows 10 Mobile in the first place, such as Lumia 550, 650, 950, and 950 XL, but starting this week, the company is also offering Windows Phone owners the possibility of installing these versions. The only requirement is for Windows Phone models to be supported by the Windows Insider program, so 512 MB devices plus a few other handsets would only remain on version 10586.

Still no support for Lumia 635

Just like the previous build, 14295 does not work on Lumia 635, but Microsoft says that it’s already working to add support for this model too, and an update should be provided at a later time.

“Going forward - these devices will be able to receive new builds from our Development Branch that we release to the Fast and Slow rings. As we stated previously, only devices which are eligible to receive the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will be able to get preview builds from the Development Branch,” Aul explained.

Today’s build is only available for members of the Windows Insider program enrolled in the fast ring, and depending on the feedback the company receives in the coming weeks, it can determine whether it’s worth releasing it to the other rings or not.
