First Redstone build being tested internally

Windows 10 Redstone builds are already available for members of the Windows Insider program on PCs, but they’re still held back on mobile phones, where Microsoft is yet to deliver the final version of Windows 10 in the first place.

But this doesn’t necessarily mean that Microsoft hasn’t already started work on Windows 10 Mobile Redstone and a recent report proves that the first build is currently being tested behind the closed doors.

WindowsMania posted a screenshot of what seems to be Windows 10 Mobile Redstone build 10.0.11102.1000 running on a Lumia 640 XL, but according to their sources, this particular version cannot be released yet, not only because the core OS is not here, but also due to the number of bugs that have been found.

Too many bugs

It appears that battery life is dramatically impacted in this build, so the Lumia 640 XL running the aforementioned build has a standby time of approximately 5 hours. This means that battery life is approximately 1 hour in continued use mode.

At the same time, sound is reportedly not working on this Lumia 640 XL, so it’s very clear that Microsoft still has a lot of work to do in order to bring out the very first Windows 10 Mobile Redstone build.

In the meantime, the whole world’s waiting for an official announcement for Windows 10 Mobile, the full operating system that’s already shipping to some lucky Windows Phone owners across the world.

While a number of carriers have already started the rollout for devices registered to their networks, an announcement from Microsoft is yet to come. Sources close to the matter, however, indicated that the public release of Windows 10 Mobile could be acknowledged sometime this week, when Microsoft officially introduces build 10586.63 to slow ring users and Windows Phone device owners.

For the moment, there’s no information on when the Redstone testing would begin for Windows 10 Mobile insiders, but it’s very clear that this moment is not too far since builds are already being compiled internally.
