Windows 10 Mobile will probably arrive by year’s end

Historically, smartphone front-facing cameras haven’t seen the same amount of mega pixels as the rear shooters. But as our selfie obsession grows, so does device manufacturers’ commitment to delivering a better secondary camera experience.

A new report that has just surfaced online seems to indicate that Microsoft is looking to do the same with its Windows 10 Mobile release.

According to WMPU, in Windows 10 Mobile, the front-facing camera will arrive bundled with a face tracking tool. This means the camera will be able to detect the face of the person towards whom it is pointed and track it to keep focus on it.

This feature comes in handy when your grip on the handset isn’t exactly firm or when your hands get shaky for a moment. It will certainly help with the snapping of clear selfies, but we just wonder whether Microsoft doesn’t have extended intentions while this face-tracking feature is concerned.

The latest build is also said to have made some visible changes to the camera icon, which has been made more obvious than before.

For the time being, the exact date of release of Windows 10 Mobile remains quite elusive, but word on the street would have us believe that we might end up seeing the new mobile OS make a debut sometime in September. Although things might change until then.

Still, one thing is certain - the desktop version of Windows 10 will be launched on July 29, so at least we’re clear regarding this aspect.

Only yesterday, we brought you news that the latest Technical Preview build of Windows 10 Mobile appears to include a native app that allows users to record phone calls. This is one of the features that Windows Phone enthusiasts have been hoping to see included in the new OS, and with Windows 10 Mobile, they might just see their wish come true.

Microsoft continues to struggle to gain market share in the mobile market, where iOS and Android continue to dominate without breaking a sweat. So the Redmond giant is working intensely to bring a new set of features to Windows 10 Mobile so it can differentiate itself from the competition.
