Concept envisions the future look of the Action Center

Everyone seems to believe that Windows 10 Mobile is a dead platform and the recent statistics don’t give the platform a single chance, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that fans of Windows phones no longer hope that Microsoft can become a key player in the mobile industry.

As a result, ideas on how to revamp Windows 10 Mobile keep coming, and lukeled, a concept designer who has already envisioned improvements for the desktop, proposed some changes for phones as well.

The concept you see here brings Project NEON on Windows 10 Mobile devices, refining the Action Center with a look that should align phones with PCs and tablets. Project NEON is a visual overhaul of Windows 10 that should make it to the market with the Redstone 3 update and include effects like blur and transparency similar to what Microsoft has offered with Aero Glass in Windows 10.

And although Project NEON seems more like a sure thing, there’s still no word on whether it could make it to smartphones or not, so this concept helps us imagine how everything could look if this indeed happens.

Android-like notifications

Even though Project NEON on Windows phones could make sense, with transparency and blur effect looking good across the operating system, there still are a few things that should be improved in this concept and one of them is the appearance of notifications.

The imagined interface of notifications reminds of Android and with Windows phones struggling to keep their own identity, such an approach wouldn’t align with Microsoft’s efforts.

At the same time, the status bar also looks odd, mostly because the battery level is placed in the middle of the screen, so switching places with the time and calendar would be a better approach.

In the end, there’s no doubt that Microsoft could refine this concept if it were for the company to bring Project NEON on phones, but at this point, the future of the platform is still uncertain. And not even Microsoft seems to be very keen on keeping its mobile OS alive.
