More substantial improvements for Windows 10 Mobile imagined

Windows 10 Mobile is work in progress and Microsoft is trying to improve it these days using suggestions submitted by insiders, but it’s no secret that the company is moving at a rather slow pace and everyone in the ecosystem is expecting more from the software giant.

In the meantime, skilled designers in the community are a lot more active and create their own concepts to show Microsoft how it can improve the mobile platform in the future.

This is also the case of a concept called Windows 10 Mobile Parallel and created by Dohyun Harry Kim. It proposes a very interesting approach for Microsoft’s mobile operating system, including UI Improvements and new features that could help boost its share.

LiveCubes anyone?

One of the new features that the concept envisions is the successor of LiveTiles which, in the designer’s imagination, can be called LiveCubes.

“Playful and responsive as ever, LiveCubes bring uniform experience to both desktops and mobile. Animation invites user interaction and provides character. In essence, it pushes Windows 10 Mobile to go beyond digital,” the designer says.

Basically, there are improved tiles shaped like cubes and which can be rotated to access more information from a specific app - in the case of News, for instance, you can rotate the cube in any direction you want to read more headlines from the Start.

Glance screen and the lock screen are both getting overhauled with a feature that’s called Pre-Touch. “Simply hover over Glance screen and it will change into lockscreen. Proximity sensors detect the depth level of the user’s hand, enabling smooth and seamless transition. One less reason to press the power button.”

The concept proposes substantial improvements in pretty much every key part of the operating system, so it’s really worth checking it out. And no, we’re not talking just to our readers, but also to you, Microsoft. These concepts are living proof that you need to do better.
