Microsoft’s mobile platform reimagined in new concept

Windows 10 Mobile is projected to receive the Creators Update in April just like the PC sibling, but it’s no secret that in terms of features and visual improvements, hardcore fans still expected more from Microsoft.

And a concept created by Leonel Funes and published on Behance tries to imagine some of the features that would make sense on Windows 10 Mobile, as well as some visual improvements that could make the operating system a little bit more eye-candy.

The concept imagines an improved PIN screen with options that allow users to hide the taps they make, but also with a dedicated button for sign-in options and accounts. There’s also an option that could come in handy when forgetting the PIN, though it’s not clear how this could work.

The Start screen itself got a facelift and it borrows some features from Windows 10 and Windows 8.1, such as tile zones, which are pretty much an evolved version of categories grouping similar tiles, such as social media. Furthermore, the concept creator says tiles could support a pinch-out gesture that would allow users to jump to another section in a second.

More updates beyond Start

The All Apps view has also been overhauled and is now placed at the left of the Start screen. While the designer hasn’t explained why he thinks it makes more sense for the app list to be moved to the left, there’s no doubt that such a change would be very painful for fans who are already used to its existing position.

Regardless of its position, the apps view would come with shortcuts, folders, settings, and power controls at the top of the screen for easy access.

The right side of the Start screen now groups the clock and calendar available on the desktop, plus a People Bar providing easy access to favorite contacts. And last but not least, the app switching interface has also been redesigned with new options, including controls to close all apps or enter split screen.
