New Creators Update build also shipped to mobile insiders

Busy day for the Windows team at Microsoft, as in addition to the Windows 10 build 15042 for PCs, a mobile build also got the go-ahead for Fast ring insiders.

It’s Windows 10 Mobile build 15043, and contrary to what many people expected, it brings zero mobile-specific new features, but only fixes and improvements

We’ve known for a while that Windows 10 Creators Update is already feature-locked and Microsoft is working at full speed on getting the update ready for public users, so it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that no new features are included in this release.

PCs, however, are getting a few refinements, such as improvements for Microsoft Edge and some of them are also available for mobile devices, but as far as smartphones are concerned, they aren’t getting anything special this time.

On the other hand, there’s a long list of improvements for Windows phones as well (which you can read in full at the end of the article), and this is living proof that Microsoft is paying more attention to fixing things these days rather than developing new features.

Windows 10 Redstone 3

There are lots of disappointed Windows 10 Mobile users out there and nobody can blame them, especially because the last few builds were mostly about bug fixes. Microsoft, however, says it’s fully committed to improving the mobile operating system anyway so more breaking changes could land in the next OS update.

While the Creators Update is projected to see daylight in April, Windows 10 Redstone 3, which is the next important release for Windows 10 users, is due in the fall, and is likely to bring more new features to smartphones as well.

There were voices claiming that the Redstone 3 could be the last update for Windows 10 Mobile, but Microsoft is yet to comment on these rumors, saying instead that the operating system would continue to be supported and improved with help from insiders just like the PC.
