Microsoft GM says the next build is due this week

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 build 14352 for PC last week, but the company decided to hold back the mobile release a little bit longer because of bugs found at the very last minute, and now it seems that this version could land for mobile insiders as soon as Tuesday.

Peter Skillman, GM of Core US for Windows desktop, tablet, and phone at Microsoft, has said in a short tweet that Windows 10 Mobile build 14352 has been “postponed until Tuesday,” adding that these releases are “mostly bug fixes and polishing things from us.”

And this certainly makes sense. The Windows 10 Anniversary Update has now entered the finalizing stage, and Microsoft is more focused on fixing bugs and improving performance rather than on adding new features, as the release of the update is planned for July.

Rumor has it that Windows 10 build 1607 is the eagerly anticipated Anniversary Update, and this is the first sign that it’s due in July (Microsoft labels build numbers on a YY-MM basis, so 1607 means July 2016).

One more critical bug to fix before anything

In the meantime, however, Microsoft has to fix a bug that disabled the Windows Insider rings on mobile devices, and the company has said during the weekend that all new builds would be held back until this issue is being resolved.

“A fix is expected within the next few days, so no new builds over the weekend. This isn't surprising, right? I can count on zero fingers how many Saturday or Sunday builds we've released to Insiders. And... we have Monday off as well,” Redmond explains.

If the new build is projected to land on Tuesday, then Microsoft might already have a fix for this bug prepared, and this means that it could be ready as soon as today. The patch, however, won’t be shipped to users because it’s a server-side issue, so Microsoft will take care of it on its own without any input from insiders.
