New build available for insiders in the fast ring

Microsoft has just rolled out a new Windows 10 Mobile build for insiders enrolled in the fast ring, introducing new features that will be part of the Anniversary Update coming this summer.

Windows 10 Mobile build 14342 is the sibling of the same version number released last week for PCs and comes with support for swipe navigation gestures in Microsoft Edge. The same feature already exists on desktops and allows users to quickly go to the previous or the next page by simply swiping across the screen.

“Since the release of Windows 10 Mobile, our top feedback request for Microsoft Edge has been asking for the return of the swipe gesture to navigate back and forward. With this build, you can now swipe from anywhere on the page to get back to your previous page,” Microsoft explains.

Open websites with apps

Then, there’s also a new feature that will definitely come in handy to mobile users: apps for websites. Also available on the PC, this particular option makes it possible to launch dedicated apps when visiting certain pages should any be available. At this point, apps with such capabilities are still being developed, Microsoft explains, but more information should be provided very soon.

And because it’s an insider build, it also comes with some Feedback Hub improvements, so now when you create new feedback, the app automatically suggests categories and subcategories based on the text you’ve written.

“If you see a suggestion that looks right, just click it to fill in the menus and get your feedback to the right engineers quickly,” Microsoft explains.

This build was originally scheduled to go live last week, but it got cancelled at the last minute because of some crashes that were fixed in the meantime. A new release on both PC and mobile is expected to take place later this week, but more will be shared by Microsoft’s Gabe Aul directly when new builds are ready.
