Microsoft has fixed Windows 10 Mobile 10586.29 and is now shipping it to Lumia 950 and 950 XL devices, but the company’s already working on a new version that could include all these improvements, plus a little bit more.

The next release could be Windows 10 Mobile 10586.36, as this version has already been spotted by BuildFeed and is reportedly being tested by Microsoft behind the closed doors. Rumor has it that the company is planning to ship this version as a cumulative update, just like the previous one, so it won’t bring any new features, but focus specifically on bug fixes and performance improvements.

Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, said in a short tweet that the Windows team is already “working on a new build with fixes for the issues we say with .29,” but he provided absolutely no information as to when exactly this new version could arrive.

The public rollout

In the meantime, everyone’s waiting for Microsoft to push the green button for Windows Phone devices, which would enable those who aren’t participating in the Windows Insider program or having a Lumia 950 or 950 XL to move to Windows 10 Mobile.

According to information coming directly from the software giant, the Windows 10 Mobile rollout for Windows Phone devices was originally scheduled to start early this month, but since we’re already on December 17, many are wondering whether the company isn’t actually holding back the release until January 2016.

For the moment, only little is known about this release schedule, but given the fact that Windows 10 Mobile is supposed to become, just like the PC sibling, a continuously updated service, the easiest way to get the new OS version is to register for the Insider program. Bugs will exist, though, but they will most likely be there even when the stable version comes out anyway.
