New cumulative update expected to launch this week

Microsoft is expected to launch a new Windows 10 Mobile sometime soon and screenshots that leaked yesterday indicated that this version could be none other than 10586.218.

Now a new video coming from WindowsMania shows this particular build in action, highlighting some of the changes that might be included when a public release takes place.

Keep in mind, however, that there’s still no evidence that .218 is the next insider release. Microsoft’s compiling a plethora of builds every day and in case it comes across major bugs, the company could decide to hold back the release. Furthermore, a newer build could also ship too, but leaks like these are always welcome to provide us with a glimpse into what’s to come for Windows 10 Mobile users.

Focus on bug fixes

First and foremost, it’s worth noting that .218 could very well be a cumulative update released not only for insiders, but also for retail users who have upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile and haven’t yet joined the Windows Insider program.

Then, since it’s part of the 10586 branch, it’s very likely to be focused entirely on bug fixes and performance improvements, so it’s hard to believe that new features could be included.

As you can see in this video, Microsoft has indeed fixed some of the bugs spotted in previous builds and downloading maps, for instance, seems to be working fine. Furthermore, live tiles also appear to be refreshing correctly, as the company specifically worked to improve their behavior in the last releases.

Overall, general performance of Windows 10 Mobile seems to be improved, but there’s nothing too exciting about it. It’s a welcome update though.

Possibly coming this week

Microsoft hasn’t said anything about the release date of this new build, but everyone expects the company to push the “red” button sometime this week when it could launch updates for Windows 10 for PC insiders too.

Details are not yet available, but with the last few releases, the company has tried to keep its devices in sync, so when a new Windows 10 for PC build got launched, a new mobile version was published too. This was the case for both cumulative updates part of the 10586 branch, but also for Redstone versions, and it’s very likely to continue with the next release.

Note that this video is in Polish, so you might not understand much if you don’t know the language, but you can easily see the performance improvements and bug fixes in the updated build.
