New cumulative update said to be prepared by Microsoft

As we’ve told you earlier today, Microsoft is already working on a new Windows 10 Mobile build that could be released to users very soon, with unconfirmed information suggesting that build 10586.164 could be the next in line for insiders.

But just like Twitter user @tfwboredom said when posting a screenshot of build .164 installing on a Lumia device, this particular version is very likely to launch next week and be superseded by another one that could see daylight much sooner.

And it turns out that this new build that might actually be shipped to users these days is none other than Windows 10 Mobile 10586.122, which, according to a report from MSMobile.pl, is ready to go live as soon as today.

Cumulative update 10586.122

Certainly, you shouldn’t take this for granted since everything could change at the very last minute, but it does make sense to see Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.122 being shipped to insiders as a cumulative update.

Microsoft has recently rolled out a new cumulative update for Windows 10 PCs that pushed the version to 10586.122, and given the company’s efforts to keep its desktop and smartphone builds of the operating system in sync, a new update specifically aimed at Mobile would clearly much sense.

Of course, do not expect this cumulative update to bring significant changes on Windows 10 Mobile devices, as Microsoft is more likely focusing on fixing bugs and improving performance. This has been the main focus lately, and Microsoft is not expected to include any big changes in preview builds (unless they are part of the Redstone branch) until existing Windows Phone devices get the official upgrade.

There’s still no timing information regarding the release of Windows 10 Mobile for Windows Phone devices, and the only target offered by Microsoft is “early 2016.”

Update: ...and it's out! Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.122 is now available for download.
