The new build is a serious release candidate

The latest Windows 10 Mobile build Microsoft delivered to Windows Insiders dates from about three weeks ago, so if we are to believe the company's promise to launch technical previews more often, the time for a new release should be very close.

If you've been on build 10166 since Microsoft released it to Fast ring, then you probably can't wait to receive and test the new build, which should drop any moment now.

Windows Insider who opted for Slow ring received Windows 10 Mobile build 10166 only about a week ago, but they will have time to get used with the new features and improvements implemented in this version since they will get the new build a few weeks after Fast ring.

The new build might not bring too many new features

The latest information regarding the next Windows 10 Mobile build point to version 10240 as serious release candidate. According to Joe Belfiore, this build has been pushed on Xiaomi Mi4 devices, but only for internal use.

It's been in testing for about a week and it seems to be stable enough to be worth releasing as the next Windows 10 Mobile technical preview.

Microsoft's Joe Belfiore also confirmed that the same build 10240 is also running on the Contiuum sample devices, and once again suggested that this is a candidate the company is testing out to maybe release it in the not so distant future.

For those out of the loop, Windows 10 Mobile build 10240 is the same Emulator build that has been leaked not long ago. It doesn't bring any major new features, but it's faster and more polished.

In other news, Belfiore stated that Continuum for smartphones would not require users to carry a device to connect since everything is wireless via Bluetooth / Miracast, or wired (via dock).
