New ROMs for Windows Phone devices are up for grabs

Microsoft has recently confirmed that Windows 10 Mobile build 10240 won't be released to insiders because of a blocking bug, but in one way or another, testers can still get their hands on this particular version.

A leak coming from China allows anyone with a Lumia 930, Lumia 640, or Lumia 640 XL device to download and install Windows 10 Mobile build 10240, but needless to say, this is a very risky thing to do since it comes with a major bug that had Microsoft keep the build private.

For the moment, the leaked ROM is only available for the three aforementioned models, and as usual, we won't provide you with download links, but it shouldn’t be too hard to find them if you know where to look.

But again, keep in mind that you install these leaks at your own risk, and Microsoft won't provide any kind of support or assistance in case something goes wrong. If it does, make sure you have the WPRT installed to flash your phone.

New official release soon

If you can't really wait for the next official release and want to install this leak, you should know that Microsoft has already announced a new Windows 10 Mobile build, and although no timing has been provided, it's expected to see daylight either this week or the next one.

Now that Windows 10 for PC is already on the market, Redmond can finally focus a little bit on the mobile version, so expect several builds to be released in the next couple of months.

Windows 10 Mobile work must be completed in approximately two months, so there's no doubt that the next weeks will be really busy for both the company and its insiders.

The first devices running Windows 10 Mobile are expected to launch in late September or early October, together with the new operating system, so we're only a couple of months away from the grand debut.
