Windows 10 Mobile is not here yet, but it’s no secret that a significant number of Windows Phone users have already registered for the Insider program just to upgrade their handsets.

And thanks to the arrival of new devices that ship with the new OS from the very beginning, including here Lumia 950 and 950 XL, adoption of Windows 10 Mobile is growing.

Data provided by AdDuplex shows that Windows 10 Mobile now powers 8.8 percent of the Windows phones currently on the market, almost as much as Windows Phone 8.0, which dropped to 8.9 percent.

Windows Phone 8.1 is obviously number one with no less than 77.6 percent. Windows 10 Mobile is the only OS version that has actually improved its share, growing 1.8 percentage points this month. Windows Phone 8.1 has dropped 1.3 percent.

Lumia 520 still number one worldwide

Right now, Lumia 520 continues to be the top Windows phone across the world with 14 percent, followed by Lumia 535 with 11.4 percent. According to AdDuplex, the biggest change is the growth of Lumia 640, which has managed to increase its share by 0.7 percent.

As far as the United States is concerned, Lumia 635 tops the charts with 31.3 percent, followed by Lumia 640 with 16.5 percent, and Lumia 521 with 6 percent.

And according to the same analytics company, adoption of the new Lumia phones varies by market. For example, in France, the standard Lumia 950 is a lot more successful than the XL, while, in Russia, the more affordable 550 is already gaining bigger sales than the two high-end models, which isn’t quite surprising, given the price of the phone.

Microsoft continues to be the number one Windows phone manufacturer with 96.97 percent of the devices in this industry, but the company hopes to see more partners joining the W10M bandwagon with new handsets in the first half of 2016.
