Concept imagines a series of improvements for Windows 10

A new concept created by Nadir Aslam imagines a substantially improved interface for Windows 10, as well as new features that make the operating system better tailored not only for PCs but also for smartphones.

First and foremost, the concept envisions a series of visual changes and improvements that are based on Project NEON, the UI overhaul that’s currently in the works at Microsoft and which could see daylight for users with the debut of the Redstone 3 update in September.

Project NEON is mostly a modern version of Windows 7’s Aero Glass and it includes new animations and effects like blur and transparency.

The concept thus embraces these visual effects, so the Start screen, for example, comes with such tweaks that give it a more eye-candy look on mobile.

Start menu overhauled

In addition, the designer also imagined a series of new features, like the People Bar, which is displayed right on the Start of Windows phones. Originally, the People Bar was developed to launch in Windows 10 Creators Update on PCs, but Microsoft delayed it until the Redstone 3 update, once again with the focus on PCs. There’s no word on whether the company wants to bring this feature on phones as well.

The mobile overhaul also features transparency and acrylic live tiles, which are basically the live tiles we already have, but with a visual improvement.

The same visual touches are adopted for PCs as well, so the Start menu is getting new transparency effects, as well as colored background with blur, which, to be honest, looks pretty good, at least in this concept.

What’s important to know is that this is still in concept phase and there is no guarantee that Microsoft is adding such features in Windows 10. On the other hand, with Project NEON becoming a priority for the company, don’t be too surprised if some of these ideas end up in the operating system after all.
