Cortana will be in charge of voice and visual prompts

Microsoft wants to make Windows 10 as easy to use as possible, and the company is now working on a new feature that would enable guided navigation with the help of personal assistant Cortana.

A video posted by Twitter user WalkingCat, who has a good track on new Windows projects, shows how Cortana would provide guide navigation in Windows as part of a feature called “Follow Me.”

While at this point this feature is part of an internal build only, the video shows how the digital assistant provides prompts to assist users who attempt to pair a Bluetooth device with a PC. Microsoft relies on visual prompts, including a blue circle to guide users to every next click in an attempt to find the appropriate settings.

The tutorial can be closed at any moment by simply pressing the ESC key, just in case the user is no longer interested in the rest of the steps.

Cortana integration in Windows 10

Microsoft appears to be betting big on Cortana in Windows 10 and the digital assistant is becoming a more essential part of the operating system with every new update.

Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced a new feature that enabled users to set up their Windows PCs with voice commands, having Cortana taking care of every step with no manual input.

At this point, little is known about Follow Me, but there’s a good chance it’ll be part of the Windows 10 Redstone 4 update launching in the spring. The next major Windows 10 update in queue is the Fall Creators Update which sees daylight on Tuesday, so there’s no chance it’ll be included in this release.

On the other hand, users who are enrolled in the Windows Insider program should get this feature anytime soon, as Microsoft will accelerate development of Windows 10 Redstone 4 after giving the go-ahead to the Fall Creators Update.
