Some users complaining that updates get stuck during install and waiting for several hours doesn't make any difference

Microsoft rolled out new Windows 10 cumulative updates as part of the Patch Tuesday cycle, and judging from the number of reports, this time all of them install fine on 9 out of 10 systems.

And yet, as far as the remaining 10 percent of computers, there seem to be various problems experienced with cumulative updates KB4022725 and KB4022715, though at this point it’s hard to determine a pattern or identify the cause of the issues.

One thing is for sure, though: the number of failed installs has decreased substantially, and the problems that users are hitting with these cumulative updates are only isolated for the time being.

Stuck during install? Don’t worry

One of the problems that we’ve seen being reported by several users is that the two cumulative updates are getting stuck during install. This is an issue that’s been experienced with previous cumulative updates as well, and the workaround is simpler than you’d think: just wait and wait and wait, as the process would come to an end at some point.

Of course, patience is a virtue, and in some cases waiting doesn’t make any difference, with some users explaining that they’ve done that for several hours in a row with absolutely no improvement.

If this is the case on your system as well, you could try waiting for as long as you can, and if no progress is noticed, just reset your PC and get back to the desktop without installing the update.

There are also some users complaining that these cumulative updates are causing BSODs, though reports in this regard are substantially fewer. Restoring seems to be the only option in this case, especially if the BSOD shows up every time.

The good news is that most Windows 10 users managed to install these cumulative updates just fine, and hopefully Microsoft would deliver a fix for those who are hitting errors like the ones mentioned above as well, though the company is yet to acknowledge these problems.
