The Windows 10 Creators Update (also known as version 1703) is one of the Windows 10 versions getting patched today as part of the monthly update rollout that Microsoft calls Update Tuesday.

The cumulative update shipped to systems running this version is KB4074592 and it includes both security and non-security improvements. The OS build is updated to version 15063.909.

Since it’s Patch Tuesday, we should start with security fixes first. Microsoft says the Windows storage and file systems received security improvements with this update, and so did the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, and the Windows Kernel.

Then, there is a long list of bug fixes that have nothing to do with security, such as broken scrolling through customer applications in Microsoft Edge. The software giant says everything should be fixed now, with Internet Explorer also getting a bunch of improvements of its own, including refined rendering for graphics elements.

Just one known bug

Additionally, this cumulative update improves performance of Intel processors that have Hardware P-States, also known as HWP, enabled, though Microsoft doesn’t provide any specifics on this. And more importantly, the company says that the bug causing an error message reading “Something went wrong” after completing the out-of-box experience on Windows 10 Creators Update should no longer be there.

Also important to know is that there’s just one known issue and it concerns the previous requirement for antivirus solutions to have an updated registry key.

The company has managed to fix the other known bug which caused the Windows Update History to display the update as failed to install, so the report should now be accurate.

Until now, we haven’t seen any reports of failed installs, and this can only be good news for both Microsoft and its users, though it’s important to mention that the rollout has just started and such issues could make the rounds as more users receive the updates.
