KB4074592 is one of the cumulative updates shipped by Microsoft on Patch Tuesday, and it brings both security and non-security fixes to systems running Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703).
But as it turns out, KB4074592 is also hitting some issues on a number of systems, and we’ve received confirmation of at least one bug so far.
While reports of failed installs are still isolated at this point, which signals local problems rather than widespread bugs, the developing team of third-party app Sandboxie has confirmed that Windows 10 might encounter a BSOD after deploying cumulative update KB4074592.
“We are seeing BSODs with Windows 10 x86 1703 + kb4074592 when launching Internet Explorer or closing Firefox in the Sandbox. This affects Sandboxie 5.22 as well as the betas 5.23.x,” a post on the official support forums reads. The team also added that the issue is under investigation and more info would be released soon.
Just one known issue
Windows 10 cumulative update KB4074592 comes with just a single known issue, and it’s actually a bug that’s been there since a few months ago.
Microsoft says that antivirus solutions running on systems deploying this update must have a dedicated registry key set – this is a requirement for all security products, and unless compatible, computers might be blocked from receiving further cumulative updates.
Contact your antivirus manufacturer to verify that their software is compatible and that they have set the following REGKEY on the computer: Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE "Subkey="SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat" Value Name="cadca5fe-87d3-4b96-b7fb-a231484277cc" Type="REG_DWORD” Data="0x00000000” |
We’ll continue monitoring reports pointing to potential issues with Windows 10 cumulative update KB4074592 and will update this article should any information be found.
