The same update was shipped to insiders earlier this week

Microsoft started shipping the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update a few hours ago, and shortly after that, the company also rolled out the very first cumulative update for this particular version.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4043961 was originally released to users participating in the Windows Insider program last week to address a bunch of issues, and now the company is making the same update available for the production ring as well once they install the Fall Creators Update.

This means that systems that are being upgraded to the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update are also being offered the same cumulative update once the install comes to an end, and all users are obviously recommended to deploy it as soon as possible.

According to the official changelog, this cumulative update fixes an issue causing removed apps to be reinstalled on every restart, logoff, and login, as well as a bug where localization of the error output from JET database is broken and only English error strings are reported.

Security updates also included

The update also includes security updates that were originally part of the Patch Tuesday rollout, including patches for the kernel-mode drivers, Microsoft Graphics Component, Internet Explorer, and the Windows DNS Service.

What’s important to know is that Windows 10 cumulative update KB4043961 also ships with a known issue, with Microsoft saying that it’s aware of a bug causing universal apps using JavaScript and asm.js to stop working after installing it. There’s a temporary workaround that Microsoft offers ahead of a full fix coming in a later cumulative update, and users are recommended to reinstall the application after deploying the cumulative update.

As with every cumulative update for Windows 10, a system reboot is required, so mass deployment in a bigger network requires work to be saved before starting the process. There are no other known issues so far and we haven’t seen any reports of failed installs since the rollout started.
