The update is causing a reboot loop on a number of systems

KB4022725 is one of the Windows 10 cumulative updates released by Microsoft on this month’s Patch Tuesday, and just we told you yesterday, it gets stuck during the install for a number of users, with no error message displayed whatsoever.

While in some cases the install actually completes successfully after waiting for a certain period of time, there are also users complaining that Windows 10 cumulative update KB4022725 actually fails to install just like its predecessors, pushing the system into an infinite reboot loop.

Failing to install

Several discussion threads on Microsoft’s Community forums, such as this one, indicate that KB4022725 could be suffering from a problem that was also spotted on many cumulative updates released in the past and causing the install to fail unexpectedly.

“I was doing the install of all the new updates. It went to reboot then I got the spinning dots on boot up and they froze then it restarted doing that twice then it went and did an auto repair. rebooted then let me get into windows. What can I do to get this error fixed or should I just wait for Microsoft to put out a fix for it?” one of the users who posted on the forums explain.

Several other users have already confirmed having similar issues, while someone else explained that Microsoft Support actually managed to get the update installed by turning off and turning back on some services. Most likely, the Windows Update service was restarted, though in the past this workaround didn’t make any difference.

At this point, Microsoft is yet to acknowledge any issue with this month’s cumulative updates, so consequently, no fix is planned at this point.

Most likely, Microsoft will not be releasing a fix given that they’re not widespread issues just yet, so the next cumulative update is your best bet to bring the computer fully up-to-date if you’re hitting similar issues with this month’s release.
