New cumulative update, new installation issues

Here we go again. The latest cumulative update for Windows 10 Anniversary Update released by Microsoft a few hours ago is experiencing installation issues as well, just like it happened a million times before with other cumulative updates.

KB3206632 is supposed to bring several bug fixes, performance improvements, and security fixes that were prepared by Microsoft for Patch Tuesday.

Unfortunately, there are several reports of failed installs and some users are complaining that the downloading process gets stuck at 95 percent, causing 100 percent disk usage for no clear reason.

Stuck at 95 percent

This reddit discussion thread reveals that, in some cases, the cumulative update needs more than 2 hours to get past the 95 percent installation progress threshold, while others complain that after rebooting their PCs, the update sits at 0 percent for several hours.

“Same problem here. 90-95% disk utilization and stuck at 95% done downloading the update for over 2 hours. I rebooted and now it's stuck at 0%,” one user explained. “Stuck at 100% for about 8 hours now,” another one confirms.

Our reader Steven Barnett has also confirmed in a comment that this new cumulative update experiences the same issues as its predecessors.

“I'd love to install it, but the last three cumulative updates have failed to install and I hold little hope that this one will be any different. MS don't seem to bothered as they have not even commented on why the previous three updates have failed. No point telling us that these updates are critical and must be installed if the installer doesn't work,” he posted.

Microsoft is yet to publicly acknowledge these problems, but it goes without saying that the company is investigating, especially because several engineers are monitoring and are actively involved in support discussions on reddit, forums, and other community websites.

For the moment, we’re not aware of any issues that this cumulative update might be causing, but we’re keeping an eye out on reports and we’ll update the post should more complaints surface.
