Update is still failing to install on a number of systems

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 cumulative update KB3200970 on Patch Tuesday, and shortly after that, we reported to you that it failed to install on some systems, as it experienced the same problems as many of its predecessors.

Fast forward one week and here we are with KB3200970 still experiencing the same problems and becoming pretty much impossible to install via Windows Update on a number of computers.

One of our computers here at Softpedia seems to be suffering from installation issues with KB3200970 as well, as the update is repeatedly being offered, even though everything seems to be working correctly at system reboot.

In Windows Update, however, KB3200970 is listed as “failed to install,” and the same entry shows up at least once a day after every reboot. A similar problem was also reported by reddit user /u/gettingassy, who posted the screenshot that you can see at the top of the article and proving that KB3200970 fails to install several times on some Windows 10 PCs.

No fix just yet

Microsoft is yet to acknowledge these problems and, consequently, is yet to provide a fix, so for the moment, users who cannot get KB3200970 up and running are stuck with the usual workarounds that come down to resetting Windows Update or manually downloading and installing the update.

KB3200970 was released on Patch Tuesday to bring not only improvements and bug fixes but also security updates that resolved vulnerabilities in the Windows operating system. Obviously, installing this cumulative update is quite critical for many users, especially given the fact that it patches security flaws, so it’s no wonder that so many people are struggling to find a way to get it working.

A target date for the next cumulative update is not yet available, but it should arrive by the end of the month, and if you are able to install that one, your computer is brought up to date no matter if KB3200970 deploys correctly or not.
