The new patch might experience same problems as the others

Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 cumulative update KB3093266 earlier today, and although no release notes have been provided, most users running the new operating system have already rushed to install it.

It turns out, however, that KB3093266 actually fails to install on a number of PCs and then pushes these computers into an infinite reboot loop because, when the setup fails, the computer is automatically restarted while users are then prompted to re-initiate the process.

Right now, there's no information on what could possibly go wrong with the setup, but there are several users complaining about the same problem already, so it appears that this new cumulative update is experiencing the very same issues as its predecessors.

Here's how one of the users hit by the problem describes it:

“After an apparently successful installation through Windows Update, the computer requests to be booted. During the boot, I get a message that the installation HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL and then continues to boot. Going into Windows Update Advanced, I find that the update did fail. I did this twice and it failed both times.”

Similar issues with previous cumulative updates

The worst thing isn't necessarily the fact that a number of users are experiencing problems with this update, but the fact that similar issues were reported with the first cumulative updates as well.

Truth is, this time, fewer users are seeing this error, so Microsoft has most likely managed to fix it on a number of Windows 10 installations, but as it's pretty clear, more work in this regard needs to be done.

At this point, there is no workaround for those who cannot install the latest cumulative update, and since there's no manual download yet (which could be a possible way to fix the problem), the only solution is to wait until Microsoft comes up with a fix.
