New cumulative update released to insiders

Microsoft has just released a new cumulative update to insiders enrolled in Release Preview and Slow rings for both PCs and mobile devices.

This update bumps OS version to Windows 10 build 14393.222 and includes general improvements, as well as bug fixes and performance optimizations for some of the built-in apps - you can check out the full changelog in the box after the jump or in the Feedback Hub app.

Microsoft says that the cumulative update is the same on PCs and mobile devices, but the first are also getting a bonus improvement for better downloading of games and updates from the Store.

According to the changelog, this new update boasts improvements for push and local notifications, but also several tweaks for Microsoft Edge browser. Internet Explorer is also getting one important fix for the issue causing “Print all linked documents” not to work in the app.

Windows 10 Mobile getting improvements too

As far as Windows 10 Mobile devices are concerned, the changelog points to several improvements, including one that repairs the bug causing unnecessary notifications about fixing the Microsoft account, as well as a bugfix that makes it possible to change the default download location for the browser.

For the moment, this cumulative update is only available for users enrolled in the Windows Insider program, but most likely, the company plans to release it to everyone on the next Patch Tuesday taking place on October 11. Microsoft is now trying to find bugs with help from insiders and repair them before pushing the update to all users, so make sure you report the issues you come across if you’re part of the Insider program.

Just like all the other cumulative updates, you can get this one from Windows Update or the Phone update section if you’re using a Windows 10 Mobile device, and a reboot will be needed once the install comes to an end.

An official KB page is not yet available, but it should go live next month when the cumulative update goes live for all users on PCs and mobile devices.
