Stats show adoption of Creators Update is going well

Microsoft said “millions” have already installed the Windows 10 Creators Update, but the company hasn’t provided any specifics, suggesting however that adoption of the new OS version is going strong.

Fortunately, AdDuplex is providing us with a closer look at the early adoption figures for Windows 10 Creators Update, revealing that version 1703 is already running on 9.8 percent of the Windows 10 PCs. This means that out of 10 Windows 10 computers, one is already on the Creators Update, even though these stats were collected only two weeks after the launch.

The Anniversary Update obviously remains number one with a share of 82.1 percent, but the good news is that only a few people are still running the original version of Windows 10, now at 1.8 percent.

Microsoft is getting ready to pull support for Windows 10 RTM next month, so updating to a newer version, be it the Anniversary Update or the Creators Update (though there’s absolutely no reason not to install the Creators Update in the first place), is the only way to continue receiving updates and security patches.

Microsoft devices getting the Creators Update first

The Creators Update is rolling out to devices in stages and, unsurprisingly, Microsoft’s own devices are included in the first phase, with statistics showing that 20 percent of Surface models are already running the Creators Update or a newer build as part of the Insider program.

MSI also seems to be in a rush to provide the Creators Update to its devices and develop full driver support and compatibility, while the other OEMs are still below 10 percent.

At this point, the Creators Update rollout continues following the same staged schedule, though anyone who doesn’t want to wait can get it right away as a manual download.

Today, Microsoft also kicked off the Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update release, once again in waves, but only some 13 phones running Windows 10 are being supported.
