Adoption of the new OS going really well in Europe

Windows 10's market share is increasing at a remarkable pace, and although there are some signs that this adoption might be slowing down, the new operating system has already reached record numbers in some countries.

While worldwide it has a market share of around 4 percent, things are going significantly better in Europe, where Windows 10 is very close to reaching 10 percent already in select countries.

Right now, Scandinavian countries seem to be the most interested in Windows 10 and the market share reached by the new Microsoft OS pretty much speaks for itself.

Close to 10 percent

In Denmark, for instance, Windows 10 has a share of 9.51 percent, according to StatCounter data, which makes it the fourth most-used operating system on the PC. After Windows 7, 8.1, and OS X. What's interesting is that in Denmark, Windows 7's market share also dropped significantly to 44.2 percent (down from approximately 50 percent one month ago).

In Norway, Windows 10 has 7.82 percent, again the fourth most-used operating system, while in Sweden it powers 8.02 percent of the PCs in the country.

Overall, Windows 10 adoption goes really well in Europe, as it has a share of 6.3 percent on the continent, which makes it the fifth OS in the charts. Windows XP is the fourth this time with 7.94 percent.

These figures are very likely to grow in the coming weeks and months as Microsoft is working to make Windows 10 available to more PCs. The process takes place in stages due to the compatibility issues that might be found during the upgrade, so Microsoft releases the new OS to PCs as it manages to fix these problems and ensure a smooth upgrade process for everyone.

The rollout is expected to complete in just a few weeks, ahead of the first major Windows 10 update allegedly scheduled for October 2015.
