“Quality data looks solid,” Windows Insider boss says

Windows 10 build 10525 was launched by Microsoft a couple of weeks ago for users enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program, but the company is now evaluating a possible release for the slow channel too.

According to Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, build 10525 is improving fast and “quality data is looking pretty solid for Fast ring,” which is an indication that the majority of bugs that the company found in the original release have already been fixed.

Right now, there's no timing for this release, but expect it to happen either this week or the next one, as new builds are now being shipped to insiders at a much faster pace than before.

Windows 10 build 10525 is the first post-RTM release and serves as living proof that Microsoft still wants to work together with insiders to develop the upcoming OS updates.

Possible changes to the rings

One interesting change that could be introduced in the coming weeks or months concerns the available rings for insiders.

Right now, Microsoft is working with Fast and Slow, with the former getting updates at a much faster pace because builds that are released as part of this ring are more prone to bugs and issues. Once the majority of issues are fixed, the build is pushed to slow.

Microsoft, however, might introduce a new ring that could provide users with daily builds, which are obviously very likely to include bugs that would significantly affect performance.

“We’re also evaluating the Windows Insider rings, and considering whether we should make changes there. Over the past few months we’ve been looking at feedback to see what changes we want to make going forward. We’re putting plans together now, so you won’t see any changes immediately, but they will come over time,” Aul explains.

In the meantime, Windows 10 build 10525 is the newest version you can get, and since bug hunting goes so well, expect it to be released to everyone in the Windows Insider program very soon.
