14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 has reached RTM, even though Microsoft hasn’t yet provided an official announcement on this, and because we’re getting closer to the public release date of the new operating system, the company has decided to push a new build to insiders, which could be exactly the RTM version everyone will get on July 29.
Windows 10 build 10240 is now available for download, and although it’s not yet confirmed whether this is the RTM or not, it certainly comes with some improvements that seem to suggest that it is.
For example, the watermark is no longer there, a change that’s usually expected to be made in the final build of the operating system, while the focus has been exclusively on fixing bugs and improving performance, so everything should work flawlessly after the update.
On the other hand, Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, said something that could be a sign that this isn’t the final build expected on July 29 (note that Microsoft might artificially increase the build number when Windows 10 comes out later this month):
“Over the past few days we’ve been preparing our release pipelines and processes, and this build is one step closer to what customers will start to receive on 7/29,” Aul explained (emphasis is ours).
More updates very soon
Aul added that, in the next few weeks, Windows insiders will continue to get their computers updated with more improvements, all of them shipped via Windows Update.
App updates will also be provided, “so make sure to keep checking for updates daily to make sure you’re running the latest and greatest code,” Aul pointed out.
Windows 10 build 10240 is available for both slow and fast ring users, which is living proof that this is one of the most advanced builds of the new OS released so far. No ISOs are available for download, however, unless you turn to unofficial versions.
