This is the closest you'll get to the RTM build

Windows 10 build 10162 is one of the magic three (10158, 10159, and 10162) that were pushed out by Microsoft to insiders this week, and the company says that it's the most stable and reliable version released so far, as it includes plenty of bug fixes and performance improvements on all devices.

With RTM almost here (some say it could be reached as early as next week), Windows 10 build 10162 is pretty much the closest you can get to the final version of the operating system, so if you can't wait any longer, this is the version you need to try.

Obviously, Microsoft could roll out some more builds with bug fixes and performance improvements before July 29, but in terms of new features and visual tweaks, this is 99 percent what you'll get in RTM.

So without further ado, the Start menu, which was brought back in Windows 10 with much fanfare, has reached its maturity in build 10162 and will most likely remain unchanged until the first major update for Windows 10 hits the market sometime later this year.

Transparency, live tiles, and resizing options

As we're pretty sure you know from the previous builds, the new Windows 10 Start menu comes with live tiles borrowed from the Windows 8 Start screen, which Microsoft hopes will become more useful this time. There are new effects for the Windows 10 live tiles, as well as various sizes to better fit your configuration.

The Start menu also comes with a transparency effect and it can match your system accent color, which means that you can change its color as you wish.

New jump lists are also offered, and so are shortcuts for installed apps, recently accessed documents, and settings, but you're allowed to choose what to show and not from the settings screen.

The Start menu is also resizable, meaning that you can change its dimensions to better fit the size of your screen. This makes it really helpful on devices with various sizes and form factors.

All in all, the Start menu is back, not in the way we knew it, but with lots of customization settings, and anyone can give it a try if they download Windows 10 build 10162.
