This new build is finally available for slow ring users too

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 build 10162 last week, but this version was only available for users enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program.

Today, Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, has announced that everyone participating in this effort is getting build 10162, so slow ring users can finally update starting right now. Previously, slow ring users were stuck with 10130, so they were three builds behind fast ring users.

Obviously, there’s no new feature in this release, and the very same lineup from the fast ring version is also available, but it’s very important to note that Microsoft fixed the majority of critical bugs and issues, so build 10162 should now be even more stable than before.

New ISOs are also available for download for those who wish to perform a clean install. These ISOs were previously released last week, just before the weekend, but now that the slow ring can get build 10162 too, Microsoft has updated them to include the latest fixes and performance improvements.

The most advanced Windows 10 build so far

Windows 10 is coming together nicely as we get closer to the RTM build, and sources claim that Microsoft is expected to finalize work on this new operating system sometimes this week.

In the meantime, it says that build 10162 is one of the most advanced it has released since the beginning of the Windows Insider program in October 2014, suggesting that, with a few more tweaks here and there, Windows 10 development should be complete.

“Build 10162 is another great one. In fact, our testing and internal telemetry metrics show it has better reliability, performance, battery life, and compatibility than any Windows 10 Insider Preview build so far,” Gabe Aul explains.

Windows 10 is projected to debut on July 29, while RTM should be reached sometime this week, most likely on Thursday.
