Is the new Windows 10 worth the upgrade or not?

After six months on the market, Windows 10 continues to be a rather controversial product, and opinions of those who have already tried it are still mixed. While some people claim it’s the best version since Windows 7 (or even better than that), others believe that it’s just another flop, pointing to the data-collection and privacy-invading features as the main reasons.

Certainly, Windows 10's performance since its debut in the summer of 2015 has been full of ups and downs, but during this whole time, Microsoft has been hard at work to improve the operating system, especially on desktops, with new features requested by users.

Windows 10 already received a major update in November 2015 that was supposed to fix many of the annoyances of the original version, with many enterprises claiming that this was actually “the stable” flavor and that the product was rather unfinished in July.

13.5 percent market share

Windows 10 has slowly but surely improved its market share since launch and is now at 13.5 percent, which makes it the second most-used desktop platform across the world.

It managed to overtake its predecessors, including Windows XP and 8.1, and it already got closer to Windows 7, which continues to be the leading choice on the desktop. But it’ll still take many months before Windows 10 actually manages to overtake Windows 7, as many people still prefer to stick with this older version for various reasons.

This year, however, Windows 10 is bound to grow even more, with enterprises to be the main catalyst, as more companies and organizations are expected to complete the piloting phase of the new operating system and start the deployment process.

In the end, it’s pretty clear that Windows 10 is here to stay, and Microsoft will continue to push users to try it out, and that’s why we’re asking you: is Windows 10 good or bad? Is it worth the upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 or it’s just better to stick with an older version until more updates are released?
