Jada Pinkett and Will Smith won’t be joining these divorcees any time soon.
Late last week, rumors started making the rounds that Will and Jada, who have been married for 17 years, were also gearing up for a divorce, which they would announce by the end of the summer. They had already settled everything about it and were only waiting for the right time to go public with it.
Will speaks out on divorce rumors
The report even mentioned that they had settled all issues about the dissolution of their marriage months ago, but had waited all this time for everything to come into place for the sake of the kids: they didn’t want the divorce to turn into a media circus.
The split was amicable because they didn’t want their children Jaden and Willow to go through a nasty divorce. The report even hinted that Will and Jada were still on friendly terms: they had tried to make the marriage work but finally understood that it wasn’t anymore, so they called it a day.
Usually, it’s Jada who’s the most vocal when it comes to rumors that threaten to get completely out of control online, but this time, it’s Will who’s making a stand.
He says so himself, he doesn’t usually address foolish rumors, but this one bothers him in particular, so he’ll take the time out to set the record straight. He and his “QUEEN” are not divorcing, he writes on Facebook, in CAPS and with plenty of exclamation marks to show that this is serious stuff.
“I promise you all - if I ever decide to divorce my Queen - I SWEAR I'll tell you myself!” Will adds.
Divorce rumors, a tabloid fixture
As badly as Will wants divorce rumors to go away, the reality is that they probably never will. As much as we love our celebrities, we love speculation on their personal life - and that includes idle chatter / gossip about whether they will last another year together or not.
Will and Jada have been plagued by lots of divorce rumors in the past years, especially after Jada sort of hinted that they had an open marriage, which meant they could stray with whomever they chose as long as they came back home.
She would later go back and explain that statement, saying this wasn’t what she’d meant to say, but the damage was already done: the Internet doesn’t forget. To this day, many celebrity blogs and glossies have their marriage as an “open” one, even though they both denied this was real.
