The other day on ABC’s The View, Kelly Osbourne, sitting at the table as temporary co-host, stepped in major “dog doody” when she tried to criticize Donald Trump for his views on Mexican immigrants and ended up by saying that Latinos were only good to clean Americans’ toilets.

You can see her comments in the second video embedded below. She has since apologized for them, saying she misspoke and was cut off before she had a chance to explain herself and make her point.

Rosie Perez was the first to jump on her during the live broadcast, but she too has apologized since, even saying that she should have known better than to jump to such an awful conclusion about a friend.

The ladies on The View discussed the incident further some hours ago, and perhaps not surprisingly, Whoopi Goldberg and Raven Symone came to Kelly’s defense.

As Whoopi put it (first video below), if you’ve ever met a racist and you met Kelly, you know that she’s not one. She has a heart of gold, but just so happened to misspeak terribly.

The desire to get her point across, combined with the fact that she was on live TV, worked against her. “It does not make you a racist,” Whoopi says. “Sometimes your head works faster than your mouth, it happens.”
