In recent months, the rumor mill has been running hot about Microsoft’s intentions of launching two new flagship devices that have been known as either the Lumia 950/Lumia 950 XL or Lumia 940/Lumia 940 XL.

Others simply call them by their codenames, which are Talkman and Cityman, and yesterday we saw the first official-looking photos of the two phones, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from Redmond in the upcoming months.

The previous leaked image of the Lumia 950 (Talkman) revealed that the phone would arrive with a black paint job. But it seems that Microsoft will also be offering the device in white (as spotted at WMPU), as today we get to take a look at a new image showing the same phone, but with a different paint job (Matte White to be more precise).

The render reveals one additional detail about the upcoming device: it will have 4 microphones for advanced recording properties.

Talkman spec roundup

The rumor mill has been kind to us, so most of the specs of Talkman have become available on the web before Microsoft has had a chance to make anything official. If we are to believe word on the street, the Lumia 950 is supposed to arrive with a 5.2-inch WQHD display (1440 x 2560 pixel resolution) and a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset under the hood.

We’re also told that the phone will bundle 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (microSD card slot support included), a 20MP PureView rear camera, plus a 5MP wide angle front-facing camera. Naturally, Windows 10 Mobile will be the operating system running the shots, with Windows Hello authentication with iris scanner.

The device will also feature a 3,000 mAh battery, Qi wireless charging with a flip cover, and a new USB Type-C port. The dimensions of the phone have also been revealed, so we can expect the Talkman to be a 145.6 x 73.4 x 9 mm / 5.7 x 2.8 x 0.35 inch device.

By contrast, the Lumia 950 XL (Cityman) will draw its power from the ill-fated Snapdragon 810. We can only hope Microsoft knew what it was doing when it chose to rely on this problematic chipset for its first Windows 10 Mobile flagship.
