Some fixes are aimed at BlackBerry OS 10.3.2 users

It's only been a day since we reported Microsoft updated its Skype application for BlackBerry 10 devices and now another major app received an update that addresses some of the issues that users complained about in the last couple of weeks.

WhatsApp Messenger is one of the applications that are kind of a paradox on a BlackBerry smartphone since the Canadian company has its own instant messenger app, BBM (BlackBerry Messenger).

BlackBerry Messenger is available on all major platforms, including Android and iOS, so there's little reason to make use of WhatsApp on a BlackBerry smartphone unless you friends are using it.

Nevertheless, it's nice to know that the team behind one of the most popular instant messengers, still supports BlackBerry. The latest update delivered by the WhatsApp team is only available in BlackBerry Beta Zone.

This means that the beta version of WhatsApp has been updated, not the stable version available in the BlackBerry World. The good news is the latest update comes with an official changelog attached to it, so we know what changes it brings.

First of all, it looks like this is a bug fixing update, so don't expect any new features or other improvements to be implemented in this beta version.

According to the developers, the update should make WhatsApp capable of reading Facebook contacts from the system address book. This should solve a large number of the missing contacts issues that users on OS 10.3.2 have been complaining of.

Furthermore, another issue with unanswered incoming calls that sometimes didn't show a missed call pop-up has been addressed as well.

Also, developers confirmed they have fixed a problem with the first message of a new conversation that would take too long to appear after sending. Last but not least, some miscellaneous fixes and updates have been included as well.
