A new version of WhatsApp Messenger has been recently released in Google Play Store, and the improvements it brings might make some users happy.

Although the Android application has disappointed quite a few fans in the last couple of months, it looks like developers are trying to make it up by often launching updates with new, meaningful features.

WhatsApp recently dropped the $1 yearly subscription for the instant messaging service, which is another decision meant to improve its relationship with users.

Moving on to the newest WhatsApp Messenger for Android, developers announced that it now comes with more than 100 new emoji, which are available on all compatible Android devices.

The official changelog released by WhatsApp also mentions Google Drive Backup, a feature that made its debut in the Android application about a month ago.

However, those who did not have it until now should be aware that Google Drive Backup enables them to back up their chats and media to Google Drive, so if they lose their phone or switch or upgrade to a new Android phone, they can easily restore their chats and media.

Those who want to enable this feature must head to Settings / Chats and Calls / Chat backup, within WhatsApp Messenger application.

Support for more languages has been added too

Aside from that, developers also confirmed they have added language support for Kazakh, Tagalog, Uzbek, Marathi, and Malayalam.

Last but not least, WhatsApp announced that their application is now fully compatible with Android 6.0 Marshmallow permissions, so as soon as your device receives the upgrade, you will be able to take advantage of this feature as well.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download WhatsApp Messenger for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up.
