WhatsApp is most certainly one of the most popular chat apps out there, with a plenitude of features and tools added often to the app that’s available both on Android and iOS platforms. A new feature will be making its way to the stable version of WhatsApp, one that lets you pin chats to the top, according to Android Police.

WhatsApp Beta beta 2.17.163 (available in our APK section) comes with a feature that allows you to pin up to 3 chats to the top, so that you wouldn’t have to keep scrolling through the list whenever you want to read a message from a certain chat.

The feature will most certainly come in handy to the millions of users who read and send messages on WhatsApp, as the app can get very clogged with chats, especially if you write to friends daily or are part of multiple groups. Pinning chats to the top could prove to be much easier to use than having to add a chat shortcut to the homescreen.

Pinned chats can be removed at any time

In order to pin a chat to the top, you simply need to tap and hold on any chat and get the new pin icon in the action bar, right next to the delete, mute and archive functions. Pinned chats stay at the top of the list, regardless if you received a message recently or several days passed since you last talked to that specific person.

Sadly, only three chats can be pinned to the top, and if you try to add more, WhatsApp posts a notification, revealing that more can’t be added. Moreover, you can always remove previously pinned chats and add others, as long as you don’t surpass the limit.

WhatsApp launched a major update earlier this year, when it added Status section with end-to-end encryption and tools for sharing pictures and videos with friends. WhatsApp Status is very similar to Snapchat Stories, with the exception that the former comes with end-to-end encryption.
